Transcending Thoughts

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.

What We Give Comes Back

Hi Everyone! I actually wrote an issue of this newsletter last week - then, I didn't send it. It was just TOO mean. I was reacting, I guess, to all the meanness I was actually writing about. I'm sure you've heard how people in the audience at one of the Republican debates supported allowing people without medical insurance to die rather than be treated. And, not one person standing on that stage disagreed with it.

Wake Up and Smell the Horse Pucky

I'm Just Sayin' ... "Wake Up and Smell the Horse Pucky" I lost a couple of readers, last week, due to this column. So, allow me to suggest you read the ENTIRE column before you go off half-cocked. Then, if you're still mad - okay. I realize I've chosen a subject to use as an example that could cause some of the very thing I'm writing about. But, I'm not pointing fingers, so let's try to stay on balance. First, let me say that I do intend to publish some of the comments I received on last week's article in this column. But, first, I want to cover a little more territory. One of the things I mentioned is that I'm completely sick and tired of seeing the "rights" we're so proud of in the USA being stripped away from citizens. I'm going to list some of those in our next issue. As a prelude, though, let me explain the biggest problem I believe we have in allowing those rights to be stripped away. I'm calling on my own training and education in this explanation. The human mind has a built-in mechanism to protect us from things we simply see as too horrible to be accepted. It's called, "cognitive dissonance."

Yes, But ...

How many times do you think you might have talked yourself right out of something you wished to create with, "Yes, but ...?" It happens all the time. Even to some who are experienced in using universal energy to create their desires.

Perhaps you have decided that you will bring about a transformation in some area of your life. You may use any - or all - of the creative techniques you ever heard about. Your desire is deep.

Happy Holidays

Seems to me I've spent quite a lot of time "on the edge" this year. So, I might as well see 2004 out the same way. Yeah, I always was an adventurous sort. (Grin)

In October, I got my knuckles rapped for having the audacity to publish a political statement. I didn't bother to fight that one, but, rather, just sighed. And gee, I never even got started. I *could* have said the last time people listened to a bush, they got to spend 40 years in the desert. But, I guess "Freedom of Speech" applies to everyone but me.

So you think you want to fall in love!

by jl scott, ph.d.

How strange that we relate being in love with "falling." Or that it's often thought of as "losing our hearts." Yikes! Who needs that?

Entering into a relationship in an effort to fulfill something we think we don't have is self-defeating. Believing that another person will make us complete is doomed to failure. We must work through our own issues and come to a place of being a whole, emotionally healthy person within ourselves. Only then will we attract other whole, emotionally healthy people.
