Transcending Thought

Real excellence and humility are not incompatible one with the other, on the contrary they are twin sisters.

2008

Ahh, the chronological year 2008, the beginning of a new year. 2007 was a good year but exactly what is this thing called time and time-lines.

Yes, they do exist as a tool to record history and to make plans for the future, but does time in essence REALLY exist or is it a fleeting moment? This question is ages old, if old exist. In my limited knowledge, I find that this phenomenon called time is the infinite presence of what is called "The Now" or "The Present Moment" and is in actuality all we have.

Oh sure, there is recorded history of what has transpired. Is is accurate, to some extent but I observe it to be a manipulation to serve the present moment on a collective level. It exist as a knowledge base, to be used as a tool to learn from and as such is a valuable tool. In this digital age, however, what was once known and recorded has been altered to meet the demands of those who wish to abuse this tool to serve their own purpose. With everything stored in a volatile mechanism these days it's easy to do.

Let's go back a few centuries, the wisdom of the moment was written down to be preserved and only a limited amount of beings had access to it. You would think that it would be easier to manipulate knowledge easier then and it may have been. Taking into consideration the writings of earlier travelers of life, there is a coming to light that this practice was relevant to many of the religions in existence today. A method of population control by the introduction of fear-based controls and laws. It was also a form used to make the rich richer, the poor poorer, those in a position of power and leadership more powerful, and the rest well just the rest.

In todays world, the same scenario is still going and while its practice once flourished from ignorance, it's time has come. While there are those who still as a matter of pun are left behind, most people these days have access to information and knowledge like no other period in history. And with this knowledge comes a consciousness as we have not experienced before. We look at things differently, we're beginning to question the so called authorities of the subject, we're digging deeper to see if this is a cover-up of truths or their expansion.

Is it possible that these tidbits of knowledge I've gained are as I observe or are they figments of thoughts that have entered my mind and I've dwelt on them to the point they are my reality. Here is where my question above "Does Time REALLY Exist?" come into play. After 50 years on this planet I've seen many things and done just as many, some good, some I'd rather forget. I look in the mirror and I see me, this outer shell of my being anyway. Things I once was able to do now are a struggle at times.

Yet, as I ponder on this, I do not feel older or younger, I just experience me, as I felt at 3, at 5, at 10, 20, and today. Sure I have aches and pains, I have days I feel great, I experience joys and sorrows, I converse with people making friends and acquaintances, and have those who do not like me to much as well. These experiences though, I find, are not who I am, they are the learning tools I use on the journey called life. So where is time, why can we look at it in the past and forward towards the future but to experience it (time) we only have the now, what we are doing or contemplate doing this very moment.

Can it be that life is infinite and that is what I sense, my true being. A stupid question to many and sounds rather lame to myself at times. None the less it is a question for the ages that everyone has thought on. Then comes another question, if time does not exist as we believe we know it then what is the purpose for our existence and can we find it. Limited knowledge is a very dangerous avenue, it can lead us to truth or can totally deceive us. That being said then how can we determine what is the correct path our life is to take, by observation from external sources or through internal suggestions of our being.

Both serve a purpose and both can be a two-edged sword. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
